There’s still time to make a donation and receive a tax credit for 2017. Arizona tax payers are able to claim dollar for dollar tax credits in 2017 for donations made on or before April 17, 2018. For example, if a married couple contributes $800 on April 17, 2018 to a qualified charity (formerly known as the Working Poor Tax Credit), they will qualify to receive an $800 tax credit (see Arizona Form 321) which may be applied towards their 2017 Arizona individual income tax. In addition, the married couple will also be able to claim the charitable donation as an itemized deduction in their 2018 federal income tax return. Below are just a few of the eligible tax credits for donations made before April 17, 2018.

  1. Qualifying Charitable Organizations Credit – $400 for single/$800 for married.
  2. Public School Credit – $200 for single/$400 for married.
  3. Private School Credit – $546 single/$1,092 married.
  4. Additional “PLUS” Private School Credit – $543 single/$1,085 for married.
